Laotian women weave these beautiful textiles on looms out of pure silk, where it is an important cultural and financial part of traditional village life. Most of the textiles take between two to five weeks to complete, and are traditionally worn over their shoulder when visiting their Buddhist temples, and oftentimes left as gifts to the monks. Because each piece is completely handmade, the surfaces are not perfect, but instead show the beautiful characteristics and nubs of hand-woven silk. Knotted fringe adorns each end of the textiles which measure approximately 16" x 82". SOLD RICH GOLDS, ORANGES AND LIME AGAINST A BURNT ORANGE BACKGROUND
