Rare 19th c. Burmese Illuminated Buddhist Manuscript

This is a complete manuscript book (Parabaik) from Burma, written and illuminated in the 19th century on saa, or khoi paper, formed from mulberry pulp. The book beautifully illustrates the Life of Buddha showing important events in his life from teaching to his death. The antique manuscript consists of 10 connected pages in the traditional fan method completely illuminated on one side with the verso in ancient Buddhist Pali script. Books such as these are seldom found outside of private collections or museums, making this an extraordinary treasure!
