Pre-Columbian Weaving Spindles and Whorls Presented is a group of 3 exceptional weaving spindles with their original terra cotta whorls from South America. They are from the Manteño culture, ca. 700-1200 AD, from central Ecuador. Each whorl is delicately formed with one incised with dots, and two of the spindles showing evidence of the original black lines dyed into the wood. The whorls have expected wear and the tips of the spindles have minor loss. These are beautiful and rare pre-Columbian artifacts from the ancient Americas. Spindles are 8 1/2 - 9 7/8" long (21.59 - 24.76 cm) #22978 $490 |
