Antique Spanish Colonial Church Processional Banner Formed from metal with a silver wash, this beautiful processional banner comes from a village church in Northern Bolivia. These types of banners are hung from wooden rods and carried during religious processions, especially during Semana Santa and Christmas. The processional flag has been formed using traditional colonial designs with inlaid glass in the centers of the two top flowers, and two beautiful angels on either panel. The banner is formed in four separate parts and hinged together for movement during the procession. The original metal appears to be copper (there are some areas where the copper is showing through the silver) with a silver vermeil. The processional banner is in excellent condition with only expected wear and would be wonderful mounted on a dowl for presentation. This is a rare and beautiful Spanish colonial silver treasure from South America! Measurements: 15" long (17" including the hanging cones) x 12 1/4" wide SOLD |
