Antique. Spanish Colonial Wood Angel Retablo This is a beautiful wood retablo from Bolivia. The retablo is painted with the Angel having additional inlay. His hair is mother of pearl; the face and wings are also inlaid with something unknown, it could be shell. The gilded top is separate with nails holding the two pieces together. The wood body has warped through time and elements (photo detail of side below), but still has retained its integrity and beauty. The retablo is in wonderful condition making this a rare and beautiful treasure of Spanish Colonial art in the new world. Measurements: 16" high, 10" wide #22485 $590 |
