Antique Standing Burmese Shan Buddha
This beautifully carved standing Buddha originates from the Shan states of Burma. The Buddha has been carved from one piece of wood with the base covered in red lacquer and the hair and blessing bowl covered in black lacquer. Remnants of the gold leaf that would have graced the figure at one time still remains on His robes and face. The Buddha dates to the end of the 19th century or very early 20th century and is in fine condition with only the expected abrasions and loss from age - a wonderful devotional Buddha!
