19th c. Lao, Laotian Buddha

This beautiful Buddha from Laos has been carved from two parts of heavy wood. The Buddha still shows remnants of the red and black lacquer as well as the gold leaf that once completely covered Him. The Buddha has the extended unisa, or top knot, as well as the elongated earlobes typical of Laotian Buddhas. This is an excellent addition to any collection of Lao Buddhist art.
