Excavated Bronze Cambodian Ganesh

This is a small wonderful bronze statue of Ganesh, known as Prah Kenes, from Cambodia. He is shown in late Khmer fashion wearing a conical headdress with his trunk curled down. The patina on this piece is beautiful with a blackish under layer and successive layers of oxidation and degradation causing beautiful hues of browns and green. Ganesh is in good condition with only surface degradation and part of his base missing (under the raised foot). This piece is from the western area of Cambodia and stylistically dates from the late Khmer period of 12th -13th century.

Measurements: 2 1/2" high (6.35 cm)
