19th c. Burmese Bronze Votive Buddha

This is a fine 19th c. bronze votive Buddha from the Shan States of Burma in the mudra of Bhumisparsha. The Buddha is stylistically typical of the Shan Buddhas with his serene face. The finial against the strong stylized flame are a wonderful contrast to the subdued features of the Buddha. The Buddha is in good condition with a beautiful patina and remnants of the black casting core still evident - a wonderful treasure.
