Excavated 19th c. Shan Burmese Buddha

This is an beautiful excavated bronze Buddha from the Shan States of Burma. The image depicts the Buddha at the moment of enlightenment, or in the posture of Bhumisparsa, under a very stylized Bo tree. There is an incredible patina to this piece with gradations of greens to the sediment that has merged with the metal from years of burial. The Bo Tree is missing some of its upper limbs however the excavated Buddha is a wonderful and collectable devotional piece showing the beauty of an excavated bronze.
