19th c. Burmese Shan Bronze Buddha

This is a very expressive Buddha from the Shan states of Burma dating from the 19th century. The Buddha has wonderful facial features and the elongated ears show the Laotian and Lanna influence from the Shan region of Burma during the last century. The Buddha has been cast in bronze and evidence of the black casting core is still apparent in the interior. The bronze shows typical wear (shown in the detail photos below) and a few small parts of the base have metal erosion, typical only of a bronze with significant age. This is a wonderful Shan Burmese Buddha for any collection.
