Antique 2-sided Relicario

This is a rare teardrop shaped relicario from the colonial silvermining city of Potosí, Bolivia. The beautiful paintings are oil on metal with the addition of silver leaf detailing. Depicted is the Virgen de la Candelaria and the Christ Niño, with the verso depicting San Jose with his attribute lily, a sign of purity. The crowns of the three have applied silver leaf, as well as the detailing on the robes and lily. This is a wonderful relicario, in excellent condition (the glass has been replaced) - a beauty!
