Antique Spanish Colonial Silver Bowl, Cup

This is an excellent example of a colonial silver bowl or cup known as a keru, from Bolivia. Kerus are used as blessing cups in weddings, baptisms and most religious Andean ceremonies. The bowl is handformed and embellished with traditional Spanish colonial floral designs. The initials of the original owner are gracefully inscribed on the bottom and the traditional and detailed solid bull is seen in the center of the keru. The bowl, dating from the early to mid 20th century is comprised of high content silver and is in good condition with only the expected marks from age and a lustrous patina.
