Old Spanish Colonial Silver Moon for Madonna

This is a beautiful silver filigree luna, or crescent moon, which would have been attached to the base of a Madonna or Virgen Santo. The crescent moon usually signifies the Virgin Mary's glory over eternity and is an important attribute in Spanish Colonial art. This luna, formed from high content silver filigree, is from Bolivia and most probably dates somewhere in the mid-20th century. This is a wonderful Spanish Colonial devotional item!
