19th c. San Juan Bautista and Christ

This is an exquisite Spanish Colonial oil on board from the 19th century representing San Juan, or St. John baptizing Jesus. San Juan, depicted with his eyes raised to the white dove representing the Holy Spirit, is carrying his staff with a banner reading in Latin "Behold the Lamb of God", while gently pouring water over Christ's head. The representation and style of painting is superb, and the condition of the painting is very good with only a few minor losses to the bottom of the painting as shown below.
