Old Spanish Colonial Fertility Milagro, Ex Voto

Ex votos and milagros, are commissioned by a devotee and brought to a church as an offering for a promise fulfilled, frequently for health or fertility. This is a wonderful old ex voto depicting a woman's pregnant torso from South America. Fertility ex votos are very common, left by a woman who is wishing for a pregnancy, or one who is giving thanks for a pregnancy. The milagro is formed from high content sheet silver that has been embossed with the image of the pregnant torso as well as two initials, perhaps the woman's. This is a beautiful milagro, wonderful for any collection of devotional objects.
