19th c. Icon on Wood

This beautiful 19th c. oil on heavy wood panel was found in South America and depicts a Male Saint. The icon, with the cyrillic writing, was either brought by immigrants to South America or painted for the Russian community. The painting is beautifully executed with typical 18th/19th c. style and perspective, and the gold gilt is exquisite. This rare icon is in excellent condition. This is a wonderful painting for any collection of religious art!
