Saint Francis of Assisi

This is an absolutely fine carving of San Francisco de Assisi from Latin America. As the founder of the Franciscan Religious Order, he is represented wearing his monk's robe with a cowl and knotted cord, also carrying one of his attributes, the skull. The Santo, carved and painted in the mid 19th century and adorned with glass eyes, is in fine condition.
